Wingfield Station…Past, Present and Future

Speaker – John Abbott

Build in 1839-40 to the design of Francis Thompson for the North Midland Railway, Wingfield is one of the earliest surviving railway stations in the world and the sole survivor of Thompson’s stations on the Derby-Leeds line. The buildings fell into disrepair and were acquired by the Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust in late 2019, since when they have been painstakingly restored to as-built condition.
