Ask The Experts...

The Ask An Expert initiative is a new way for you to find out more about the Roundhouse and it’s place in the industrial story, from those who know it best!

We invited you to send in your questions for our experts. These were formed into interviews that were carried out and recorded by local young people.

We have an incredibly diverse team at The Roundhouse made up of; Engineers, Boilersmiths, Signalmen, Guardsman, Firemen, Ex-Miners, Historians, Museum Archivists and Volunteers. All passionate about their subject and with a lifetime of hands-on experience in the railway industry.

Ever wondered what it was like to be a fireman, shovelling coal on a red hot steam engine? Or wondered how do you become a train driver or an architect designing buildings like the Roundhouse?

Watch the videos below to find out the fascinating stories and experiences of some of our most knowledgeable and inspiring team members.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who submitted a question, our interviewers Thomas and Billy and of course our wonderful experts for sharing their stories with us.

This is just the start of our Ask The Experts Initiative and we intend to build on this  going forward. Please keep checking back for updates or email us at learning@barrowhill.org if you would like to get involved.
