First Prize, Theo
Theo is 4 years old and absolutely loves steam trains! His favourites are Stephenson's Rocket, the Flying Scotsman and the Mallard.Theo's picture is of all the things he thought about when we talked about our visit to the Roundhouse last Christmas - learning about George Stephenson and the Rocket, the cog game in the learning area, his ride on a steam train and lastly the turntable itself!
Second Prize, Poppy, age 7
Poppy's crayon picture stood out for its colour and vibrancy. Depicting a train chasing the virus out of town, Poppy also pays a beautiful tribute to the NHS.
Third Prize, Jakey, age 9
Jakey's picture is like a scene from a movie. The train is transporting super heroes to fight the coronavirus.
Joint Winners
AJ - age 14
AJ's entry was inspired by the current coronavirus crisis. Through a mixture of collage and drawing AJ celebrated the Roundhouse and also paid tribute to the NHS.
Lily - age 14
Lily's detailed drawing represents the uniting of the workers, coal, trains and the Roundhouse, as one working system.
Final Hours by Tyler Taylor
Tyler is a poet and student in Chesterfield and was inspired to compose a poem for her winning entry.
Word Art by Maragret Edge
For her piece of Word Art, which is loosely based on the 'Little Blackie' loco at the Roundhouse. This is one of the engines that Margaret's grandfather used to drive.
All winners will receive a family ticket to the Roundhouse and a Voucher to spend in the Museum Shop when then come. We look forward to welcoming you and your families when we reopen in 2021.
