Welcome to Barrow Hill
The weekend of 14th/15th December will be the Roundhouse’s last public open weekend of 2024.
Following the Richard Hawley concert on the evening of 21st December, the Roundhouse will close for its annual winter break. We will re-open to the public on Saturday 1st March 2025.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited and supported the Roundhouse in 2024.
We have had another successful year thanks to the generosity of our visitors and the hard work of our volunteers. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again in March 2025, when the Roundhouse will be joining in the national celebrations for Railway 200.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The Roundhouse Team
Barrow Hill Roundhouse is the last surviving railway roundhouse in the United Kingdom with an operational turntable.
Built in 1870, it was threatened with demolition in 1991 when the site was closed by British Rail. It was saved by a group of dedicated volunteers who have transformed it into a unique railway museum and events venue.
We hope that the glimpse this website gives into this fascinating building will encourage you to visit us and we look forward to welcoming you.
